This was a terrific toaster for the first year, but then all of a sudden the outside two elements stopped working. Only toasts on the inside of slices of bread.

Yes, it's a toaster. It toasts bread, english muffins and other such delightful bread-like items.
Can't go wrong with this toaster if you like toast.
