| Editorial Reviews:
Product Description This accessible and valuable introduction to caring for a child with autism is an ideal resource for teachers and members of a child with autism's immediate and extended family. In clear and simple language, with many illustrations, the authors tackle commons problems experienced in everyday routines such as eating, sleeping and going to the toilet, as well as how to cope with aggression and tantrums, preoccupations and compulsions and how to enable better communication and socialising. Step-by-step, the authors consider why each problem may be happening and suggest a number of ways solutions.

Only one of its kind December 12, 2004 Georgina (Adelaide, Australia) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
This is a different kettle of fish to Tony Attwood. But very valuable. Tony is a god and the tone is optimistic generally which is good as an introduction but he doesn't get to the nitty gritty of faecal soiling or being awake all night! This book is more directly concerned with specific problems of behaviour. Education is not covered. I wish I had had it when my own AS child was awake all night long. I would have tried the technique that keeps them up 1 hour longer than the time they drop off eventually!
Very practical, very sensible. If you havnt got a particular problem they discuss then thank your lucky stars and be grateful. If you have then this will give you good advice.
